Jesus is the Son of God. (Matthew 8:29; Mark 1:1; Luke 1:35) The fact that Jesus is God is evidenced by

1. He was Fathered by The Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:35)
2. He has the following qualities:
1. He is Creator. (John 1:3)
2. He has life giving power. (John 5:21)
3. No one created Him (Self-existence). (John 5:26)
4. He holds the universe together. (Colossians 1:17)
5. He knew at His water baptism that He had to fulfill all righteousness. (Matthew 3:15; Philippians 2:8)
6. When He was tempted, He demonstrated He had nothing to prove even though He was the Son of God. (Matthew 4:7)
7. He knew He was judge of all men. (Matthew 7:21)
8. He knew His work (evidenced by calling disciples). (Matthew 3:13.14)
9. He knew God was His Father. (Luke 2:49)
10. His name is coupled with the Father’s in other scripture passages. (John 17:3)
11. The fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him. (Colossians 2:9)
12. He is all knowing (omniscient). (John 2:24,25)
13. He is all-powerful (omnipotent). (Matthew 28:18)
14. He raises the dead. (John 11:25,43)
15. He forgives sins. (Mark 2:10)
16. He judges all men. (John 5:22)
17. He is mentioned in the formula for water baptism. (Matthew 28:19)
18. He is mentioned in the Apostolic Benediction. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
19. He is everywhere (omnipresent). (Matthew 18:20)
20. He existed before the world (pre-existence). (John 8:58)
21. He does not change. (Hebrews 13:8)
3. He is worshipped. (Mark 14:33; Luke 24:52; John 20:28)
4. Divine names such as God, Son of God, Lord, First and the Last and Alpha and Omega refer to Him. During the time of Jesus’ earthly ministry, the term Lord as it was applied to Him, was only used to refer to God (deity).
