Jesus Christ is the Anointed Savior of the world. He is the center of Christianity. Christians are persons who have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. The word Christians means little anointed ones. Christians are anointed with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) to
- Tell others about Jesus. (Mark 16:15)
- Disciple those who accept Him as Savior and Lord. (Matthew 28:19)
Jesus is called the Son of Man. (Luke 19:10) He was born of a virgin. (Luke 1:26-27, 31, 34-35; 2:7) Therefore, He received his humanity from His mother, Virgin Mary. He was flesh and blood as other men are. (John 1:14; 1 John 4:2) Mary’s lineage can be traced through King David to Adam. (Luke 3:23-38; 2 Samuel 5:14) Therefore, Jesus is the Son of David and the Son of Adam.
As a child, Jesus grew, waxed strong in spirit, was filled with wisdom, had grace upon him, increased in wisdom, stature and favor with God and man. (Luke 2:40, 46, 52) He was taught of God. (Isaiah 50:4, 5)
As a grown Man, Jesus looked like an ordinary Jewish man. (Matthew 26:48) He was spirit, soul and body as other men are. (Luke 23:46; John 12:27; Matthew 27:58; 1 Thessalonians 5:23) He hungered (Matthew 4:2), became thirsty (John 19:28), slept (Mark 4:38), wept (John 11:35) and became sorrowful (Matthew 26:38).
